My two cents on Zuma and his baby mama drama

Those smart enough might have noticed that I haven't updated this blog in a while, two months to be exact. If you thought that this blog is dead then you were right, I had planned on taking a indefinite break from blogging here, mainly because I have important things that I have to care of (like getting a job). At any rate, after rejecting countless "Zuma must step down" facebook groups invites like this one, I felt the need to put in my two cents worth of what everybody else is talking about.

You might have heard that our President, Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma, who already has four wives had sex with Dr Irvin Khosa daughter, Sonono Khoza and had a baby with her. The whole country is talking and it seems like, I'm the only person at the moment, who doesn't really care. I've read countless blogs, newspaper article, Helen Zille's Tweets. etc, and I'm left wondering: "How does this really impact anybody who's surname isn't Zuma or Khoza?". With the exception of opposition parties who are out to score cheap political points, it seems what everybody is really worried about, is the perception this has on the rest of the world. Everybody is worried that Zuma's lust for young ass, is reflecting badly on the country, well I got news flash for the rest of y'all, This is Africa, the world's perceptions about our continent is way too fucked the fuck up for us to care plus, if you've seen how western news cover Africa (and recently, Haiti) you'd know the dealio, sure Zuma's ordeal might reinforce certain stereotypes about Africans but I've said it before and I'll say it again, Stereotypes have little to do with the behavior of those stereotyped (I hope that makes sense). Above all else, these are the two things that are the most mind boggling about the whole episode:

Exactly why are we surprised?

Not to sound like I'm looking down Zumeezy but isn't Jacob Zuma the same guy who: 1) Has been married six times and currently has four women he can matrimonially drop load of his seed in 2) Knowingly had unprotected sex with an HIV positive women who was his friend's daughter who referred to him as "malume'' (uncle) 'cause she grew under him 3) I don't really remember where I read this but back when Zuma and Mbeki were buddies in exile and they needed a gun and the only gun available was in a some unattractive woman's possession and to get the gun, everybody agreed to send Zuma ( cause he had a way with women) to seduce the said woman so she can give them the gun. It is kinda clear that Zuma has a weakness for booty and he is somewhat of a cassanova or as the kids like to say "His dick game is proper". Everybody knew this about him, it wasn't much of an issue 'cause 1) he got elected as president 2) He was literally a media darling months ago. If most people didn't care about his infamous penchant for new booty back then, why are they making a noise about it now?

What's the fight against HIV/AIDS got to do with it?

I won't pretend to be an expect on the battle against AIDS, I'm just a guy who has spent the most of 2010 in his boxers watching Al Jazeera English the whole day but I'm smart enough to know that Zuma's sexual behavior (or anyone's for that matter) has anything to do with the fight against AIDS. AIDS prevention messages are everywhere, way before I grew my first pubic hair strand, I already knew how you got AIDS and what one needs to do to prevent infection. Almost everybody knows the ABC's, Condoms are free and available everywhere, from Toilets at University campuses to Spaza shops and public phones in the townships and still people (more often than not, it's the men but that's a post for another day) choose to be irresponsible, regardless of whether Zuma chooses to keep it in his pants or not.

That is just my opinion on the matter.

I got no beef with Animal Rights activists

A couple of guys support your cause ladies, but not for the reason you think. Natch.

I just wanted to apologize for my last post, I was directing my beef towards a wrong group of people. I already had my episode with vegans, I don't want another one. With regards to my last post about Ukweshwama ceremony, I might have not worded the post correctly and for that my dear animal loving friends, I apologize. I have no beef with animal rights activists, Animal Rights Africa have every right to fight for whatever cause they feel like. I might not agree with what their doing but I have no right to tell people what cause they should be for. So if you're an animal rights activist and you're against the Ukweshwama ceremony, I have nothing bad to say about you. Keep on doing whatever the hell you're doing, Just tone down on your epic douchebaggery.

On the other hand, if you're not a vegan, animal rights activist or whatever. If, like many of us, you're a unrepentant meat eater and you're against the Ukweshwama ceremony because it's violent and cruel, then you're a disgusting self-righteous hypocrite, pretending you care about the welfare of animals whilst supporting an industry that breeds animal for slaughter. I have a few three word sentences for you lot:

What the fuck?!?

Are you crazy?

fuck off please!

Kill Your self!

No, really. Die!

That was my requisite rant for the day. Thanks for your time.

Animal rights activists tell Zulus to eat a Dick

I've said this before and I'll say it again, Animal rights activists have a tendency to be utter douchebags (No offense just in case). A month or two ago the interwebs went bananas over  "The Cove" a documentary that supposedly tries to expose Japanese tradition of hunting dolphins to the world. I remember watching the news clip on Al Jazeera and thinking, what the fuck is up with westerners trying to tell other people what they should or should do? and when Louie Psihoyos, The director of the documentary made this comment i couldn't help but roll my eyes:
“I felt that it was really important to get the film out here to make a stand, not to be safe in America but to risk everything to come here to show the film to the Japanese people,” he told a news conference.

“I really feel like... if this movie gets seen in Japan, it will be a huge win for the Japanese people and it will be a huge win for dolphins and the environmental movements.

I find it amusing that someone would have the audacity to think that, just because western folk watched flipper or whatever that movie with the killer whale was called and have affection for cute looking sea mammals, that the whole world is supposed to feel the same. You don't see Hindu folk trying to tell the whole world not to eat beef.

And now once again, Animal Rights activists are at it again. Telling people that their religious practices are inhumane and cruel. Doloqima Ukweshwama, A traditional Zulu thanksgiving ceremony held before harvesting of crops, has been in the news for a while now. An organization called Animal Rights Africa Took Zulu King, and the KZN premier to court over the matter. They are trying to stop the ceremony from taking place because the Bull is slaughtered by bare hands and this they say, 'causes tremendous pain to the animal and is tantamount to torture. The judge is supposed to give "Judgement" on the case this Friday. I just find it perplexing that the rights of a bull could be placed above the religous rights of an entire Zulu nation.

Everybody hates Ras Dumisani

All because he had the audacity to sing fuck up the national anthem. Now everybody wants to cut of his dreads.

Black people hate OMO

They really don't hate OMO but now that I got your attention, we can all get down to business.

A month ago, I got an invite to join one of these shady ass facebook group that are down right pathetic, the one that I got was called (and I kid you not) "To hell with OMO and their competition, black people only win R10 000" or some such bull shit. I had forgotten about the group until I read yesterdays Citypress and lo and behold some douchebag actually complained about the OMO ads:

THE Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa (ASASA) is investigating the Omo door-to-door competition after receiving complaints that it promotes racism.

Viewers of SABC1 and Facebookers say the competition, which runs during the screening of popular soapie Generations, encourages racism and promotes stereotypes about black people. They say black women are shown washing shirts by hand while white women use washing machines.

They also allege that the first white woman to win the competition bagged R50 000 in school bursaries while a previous black woman winner got only R10 000.

City Press readers have also complained about the competition. One reader has vowed never to buy the product “in protest at its racial discrimination”.

In the advert for the competition presenter Nkanyiso Bhengu pitches up at houses around the country and asks if the women have Omo in their homes. If they have they are invited to wash a shirt. They then peel back the collar, revealing the prize.

Corné Koch, communications manager for ASASA, says they have received complaints about the advertisement and are assessing their validity and whether or not the matter falls in the jurisdiction of ASASA.

“It should be noted that ASASA can only rule on the content of an advertisement and not comment on how the competition is being managed,” says Koch. - Jacked from here

Before I go any further, I think it's important to note that one of my favourite pastimes is to spot a racial stereotype in advertisments. The fact that the same racial stereotypes that were used to justify the oppression of one racial group are being recycled and used to sell products to the same racial group that was oppressed is sickening and the fact that nobody says anything about it is even more troublesome. In South Africa products that are targetted to the so called "lower LSM" working class township blacks always seem egregiously come up with the most ridiculous ads. I understand that in advertising, you have to fit people in these neat little boxes but can't anybody come up with ads that don't paint black people as buffoons? I live in the townships, 80% of people I know are supposed to be the target market to these product and yet in my 22 years of existance I have yet to meet someone who screams at the top of her lungs on the phone shouting: "Makhe!, have you heaaaaard!! you can now talk for freeeeee on weeeeeeeeekeeeeeends!!!!!" like that lady on the Cell C ad, The black township dwellers that I hang out with don't Shout "it's unbelievaaable" whenever they eat chips that have been sprinkled with Aromat and honestly MTN, black people stopped saying Ayoba four years ago so you can take you free calls and shove it up your corporate arse. It's sad that this is the perception the black middle class/ white ad executives have of the so called "lower LSM" blacks. Pardon my digression, this post is supposed to be about the OMO ad in question. I honestly don't see anything wrong with this ad, so what if the black people wash their clothes by hand in them? Out of all the ads that are infested with racial stereotypes why is everyone so worked up about this one? because a white person won R50000 and not a black person? pfft. Where were all these people when OMO ran probably the most racially troublesome ad ever? you know, the one with all those black and white kids playing soccer on a muddy field, while their black and white mother watch the game but at the end of the game, it's only the black mothers who are left to wash all those muddy socks. hmm.

People should stop complaining and join my boycott of KFC After the jump is a montage of more racist commercials, enjoy...

Immortal Technique on Obama, 9/11 etc

I hate to say I told you so.......

........but i told you! lol.

<>Children, daddy hasn't abandoned you, he's just been busy.......... busy being called a racist on twitter for wishing the owner of that hateful website ZAsucks the pleasure of being anally raped (I watched too much Boondocks, I couldn't help).Ha! Anyhoo back to the topic at hand, Remember back in the days when I used to update this blog regularly, I said everybody has somehow ingested the Zuma juice overnight and they can't help but sing praises to him? We'll guess what? The potency of the Kool-Aid hasn't worn off 'cause last night President Jacob Zuma was awarded "African president of the year 2009" HA! [Check it: Zuma chosen as Africa's finest]

And in other news, that racist site South Africa Sucks is finally shutting down, I usually don't link to racist sites but I'll make an exception this time: [check it: The end of the road for South Africa Sucks]

Jacked: Neville Alexander article at Pambazuka*

I'm still lazy to write any original content, if I didn't know my way around the 'nets this blog would be doomed (if it hasn't already). I found a well written article over at my new favourite site, Pambazuka News. here's an an excerpt of it:

Recent study suggets that Cape Town is racist

The internets are buzzing with a recently released study suggesting that the City that's been hailed as more European than African, Cape Town, is Racist ass f**k. I'm in lazy mode, so I'll quote the article without comment, like I do most of the time:

In employee interviews, the researchers found "a broad consensus that Cape Town is hostile to African people" particularly when compared to Johannesburg.

"It's like I have moved 10 or 20 years back," one of the employees said. "Joburg is like so far and Cape Town is so very backward. What I always ask myself, where do the black people work in the Western Cape? I don't see them. You walk in the malls, you walk in the store. It's either coloured or white people. Where are the black people? How do they pay their bills, what are they eating?".

Surtee and Hall reported "marked antagonism" toward coloured employees. "Rather than finding common cause with those who were also victims of discrimination ... many African people interviewed feel that coloured people are their competitors by virtue of race."

Cape Town was "isolating" to those without family or established networks, employees said.

"I would like to hang out with more Capetonians, but they are funny characters. They live in an environment that is peaceful that allows you to be on your own ... It's just Table Mountain and the sea. Joburg has ubuntu," said one.

The situation was worse for black women, the researchers said. "African women are always doubly disadvantaged, having to contend with both race and gender discrimination in their career tracks."

Capetonians might want to defend their city, without resorting to boderline bigotted antics the commenters of the article did [check it: Cape Town a racist city-study]

Not worth a quirky title

One thing I didn't know until I discovered the Internet was this whole animosity between continental black Africans and African Americans, I've lost count at the number of times I've seen an Black American blogger make a post about how nasty and backwards Africa really is and a bunch of Black Africans come to the defense of their country and then the comments section descends into a self hating episode of blacks from both sides of the argument throwing poo at each other, trying to prove to everyone how they are the "better oppressed", it's quiet sad. Anyhoo, while cruising the interwebs I came across a post by African American intellectual, James C collier titled " Dad, why is Africa always last". I'll post the whole thing here without comment or permission, 'cause I'm gangster like that.

AQUILOGY quoted

Remember how hectic the first half of 2008 was, in terms of the Race relations in this country? Everything was spinning out of control, Dr Irvin Khoza was using the K-word like it's going out of style. That crazy white kid went to a shack settlement and started shooting at everybody who's black, and who can forget those four pupils from Reitz residence in the University of the Free State who shot a low quality video protesting intergration that shows black res cleaners eating some concoction that they've urinated on. ja, neh. Those were the days. Dr Robert Jansen wrote a book about the racial tensions in South African Universities, in it he talks about how parents pass on what he calls "bitter knowledge" to their kids and the kids explode causing a racial incident or some such, I don't actually remember, it was over a year ago. Anyways, I wrote a post about it, using the racial incidents at the University of Johannesburg as an example, I pointed out how Dr Jansen might be right. The post was in my late, great blog which has subsequently been deleted and it was titled "bitter knowledge" at work. Laura, alerted me that a passage in that post has been quoted in a report about discrimmation in higher education institution. Here's the quote:

The pervasiveness of racism and racial incidents in residences, which belies any suggestion that Reitz was an aberration, is well-captured by the following student blogger:

According to The Star, there was yet another racial attack at the Dromedaris Residence in UJ.Two first-year students at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) have been attacked and their room trashed inside a residence which is becoming notorious for racist incidents. The boys were too scared to have their names published, said they were asleep at 3 am on Tuesday in the Dromedaris residence when someone banged on their door. ‘This was not the first time, so we thought that if we kept quiet they would just go away... About two hours later I woke up coughing. There was thick smoke all over the room.’ The students said a fire extinguisher had been emptied in their room through a hole at the top of the door. When they opened the door for air, two senior white boys allegedly assaulted them.

Being a student at the UJ I can tell you all that this is probably the fourth racial incident at the Dromedaris Residence. Every black student will tell you that UJ Kingsway campus is one of the most racist campuses in South-Africa and it seems that management is not prepared to do anything about it. In February a Black student was allegedly made to take a cold shower for four hours in the name of initiation. In March some guy was beaten outside the male residence (although the res manager claim the incident was non-racial) and in march a white guy was beaten up for standing with a black guy on campus. (Aquilogy Blog, 30 July 2008)

The trashing incident referred to by the blogger ironically occurred on the night before the Committee’s visit to the University of Johannesburg!

I just wanted to brag a little. Now, back to our regular programming [check it: Polity: Report of the Ministerial Committee on transformation and social cohesion and the elimination of discrimination in public higher education institutions (June 2009)]

Black racism is overrated

racism noun /ˈreɪ.sɪ.zəm/ n [U] the belief that people's qualities are influenced by their race and that the members of other races are not as good as the members of your own, or the resulting unfair treatment of members of other races

I don't know what's up with Thoughtleader these days, everyday when I pass by there seems to be a discussion on racial issues, weren't they listening when Jacob Zuma said debating race will take us backwards? yesterday afternoon I stumbled upon an article by Sandile Memela titled "Dear Coconuts, blacks are no racists". I was actually one of the first people to read, no comments had been made yet when I finished reading it but I knew that. I actually don't remember what he was on about, I stopped taking Sandile Memela seriously when he wrote that article on the Sowetan the other day insinuating that township school pupils are lazy and that is why they keep failing, but it doesn't really matter anyhow, this post isn't about his article, it's about something bigger.

Y'all already know that I like to head on over to any news site, browse through the comments section for the prevalent bigotry that goes on over there, this groundbreaking habit of mine has made me notice quite an interesting trend: the obsession to prove once and for all that black folks are racist. It amazes me that, no matter what the topic of discussion is, someone on the comments section would make a remark about how black folk are as much racist as white folk. AA/ EE / BEE is usually presented as "proof" that black people are discriminating against other racial groups, examples like Robert Mugabe's Land reform are cited at "evidence" at the amount of cruelty black folk can inflict on white folk. It's actually weird how they think proving that black racists do exist would actually change shit. I don't see a point to all of this. Is it possible for black people to be racist? honestly, I don't give a flying f**k. This is why:
